11+ Entrance Exams

The Trafford Grammar School Consortium includes:

Altrincham Grammar School for Boys
Altrincham Grammar School for Girls
Sale Grammar School
Stretford Grammar School
Urmston Grammar School.

The entrance examination consists of two tests, each lasting approximately one hour.

The tests assess verbal, non-verbal, and mathematical skills with a variety of question types.

From September 2024, GL Assessment is the test provider for Year 7 entry testing.

Questions may assess word choice, vocabulary knowledge, and understanding of how words relate to one another.
Additionally, students may encounter questions that test verbal reasoning and comprehension skills.
This section may include questions on the relationships between shapes and sequences, identifying common features within a set of figures, and applying these to a new figure. Students will also face codes and spatial awareness questions.
The mathematics questions will cover topics typically taught up to the start of Year 6, including number, measurement, geometry, and statistics.
Some questions may require applying current mathematical skills to solve problems.
